Jeppesen says the crashing of Mobile FlightDeck VFR that users are reporting has to do with iOS 7 incompatibility. They have submitted version 1.1.4 to the AppStore and are waiting for Apple to approve the new version. Funny, none of my other apps seem to have problem with iOS 7. It's almost as if Jeppesen never did any QA testing with iOS 7, even though a developer version of that OS was available prior to the general release ...
After a somewhat rocky start downloading data to Mobile FlightDeck VFR, I thought I'd gotten through the rough patches. Unfortunately, my in-air use of Mobile FlightDeck VFR can be described in three words: Kahboom, kahboom, kahboom.
My setup: iPad Mini, iOS 7, Dual XGPS150
At first the app crashed when I tried to scroll or zoom while in the flight mode, but I left it alone and with track up enabled it would crash every minute or so. After over a dozen crashes, I gave up.
Memory leak? Protection exception? iOS 7 incompatibility? Hard to know ... Haven't had time yet to talk to Jepp Tech Support, but will update with more details as they become available.
