Clouds over Mono Lake.
Numerous tower cumulous clouds required a lot of weaving, back and forth. We were at FL350 when this was taken. Kudos to the flight crew for providing a pretty smooth ride, considering the circumstances.
After a boarding a connecting flight, we entered some high level clouds and tightened our seatbelts. A shiny coin to the first person to name the aircraft, based solely on this photo of the wing.
More tower CUs on the second leg, and more bumps, too.
Here are some visual clues as to our location.

The last time I was here, nearly twenty years ago, I don't recall the police carrying firearms. They do now.
And if you haven't figured out yet where I am, this photo should be a dead giveaway ...

My guess is that the wing belongs to Boeing 777.

Love your blog! Great mix of information and musings. I know you're on vacation... but 2 questions for you when you have a few minutes. My hubsand and I just finished our privates... and are starting work on our IFR. We have a 172 with a G1000, and our instructor is somewhat new to the G1000. 1) Is there a way to see the rate of roll on a G1000 (like you would be able to see on a normal turn coordinator)? 2) How do you practice partial panel in the G1000? I'm pretty sure that's a 777 wing. It might be a 767 though: it's difficult to judge given the angle of the photo.

Yes, it was Paris and the correct guess on the aircraft wing was ... (drum roll please) Boeing 777-200.
The last stage of the Tour was last Sunday about two blocks from our hotel, but we missed it. Had a train to catch to another city. More photos to follow ...
I always enjoy your writings but I must say this blog was a lot more exciting when you were sometimes carrying more ice than cargo, making zero zero NDB approaches into one-way strips and regularly sleeping on an FBO couch with 4 A.M. vending-machine breakfasts.
Now you're complaining about the air conditioning on the express trains.

Last I checked, no one was being held against their will and being forced to read what I write. If you don't find my blog exciting enough, you're welcome to stop reading it.
You must have me confused with some other former freight dog. I never flew a zero-zero NDB approach in a Caravan since that wouldn't be allowed under Part 135. I did my share of airframe ice, but that wasn't for entertainment.
Lastly, Anonymous, let me say I just LOVE your poetry ...
